A few months back I had done business cards and a logo for a woman named Kathy Garlasco for her and her partner.. Their company company, Garlasco & Gotimer (samples of the work still featured elsewhere in my portfolio), recently split and now it's just Garlasco & Associates. The previous design having been so formal and corporate-oriented, Kathy wanted something with a brighter scheme and a slightly more modern feel. I used a similar font from the previous work I had done (because it was something I knew she would like) and did a slight spin-off of their old text-based logo with new colors. She wanted shades of blue to be used throughout the logo (liking the way that Google sort of alters it's colors throughout their logo, wanting to vaguely mimic that). Rounded corners added a contemporary edge and, while you can't see in this sample graphic, I chose a very glossy finish to make them really slick looking and more durable. The background on the front of the card matches the backgound for her new site (that should be going live shortly) so everything ties together for a feeling of continuity throughout all her company stuff.
